It’s time to sort through your LINEN – a challenge that is surprisingly quick and easy!
The method we used in sorting though towels is ideal to replicate for this challenge. Take everything off the shelves and pile onto the bed or table. Then begin creating piles of linen per room. I decided on one set plus one spare set per room – that is more than enough for us. Everything else was ruthlessly added to my donate pile!
The resulting “keep” pile looked something like this:
- Main bedroom – two fitted sheets, two duvet covers, eight king size pillowcases (we have four pillows on the bed)
- Kayla bedroom – two summer fitted sheets, two winter fitted sheets, two duvet covers, four pillowcases
- Isabella bedroom – two summer fitted sheets, two winter fitted sheets, two duvet covers, four pillowcases
- Guest bedroom – two fitted sheets, two duvet covers, eight pillowcases
The resulting linen was placed back on the shelves according to the room in which it will be used. I have no idea why I have been keeping sheets in one pile and duvet covers in another – everything has to be unfolded to see what size it is, which takes forever and leaves a huge mess behind. This method makes far more sense – and makes the weekly changing of linen an absolute breeze!
I also quite like the idea of placing all linen inside one of the pillowcases, so that it is kept neatly together:
Another idea is to use baskets to keep various items (however, I would suggest using one basket per bedroom, instead of organising by category):
At the end of the day, keep in mind that the less you have, the easier it is to organise. Subtract, subtract, subtract!
