Doing today’s PLASTICWARE challenge was quite cathartic for me! I am forever searching for tupperware lids and no matter how I organise my cupboard, it seems to become messy again quite quickly! I had no option for this challenge but to pull everything out the cupboard and start from scratch. I matched every tupperware bottom with a lid, and stacked them in height order! If I had any “orphans”, they were subtracted, as were any with broken lids. I realised that I actually don’t need quite as many storage containers as I had originally thought – and quickly popped up to the shops to stock up on a few smaller containers that I could use for the girls’ school lunches.
For me, I chose to go against Pinterest’s instructions to stack empty tupperware like little Russian Dolls (one inside the other) with the lids carefully stacked somewhere else, because if truth be told, I can’t actually be bothered to hunt for matching lids. Seriously. So each item is stored with its lid intact – something I can afford to do now that I have pared back! It was also the perfect opportunity to sort through the children’s plastic plates, cups and water bottles – my favourite part of the challenge. What a difference is has made – and we can FIND things now!
